Scope
This policy describes how the current Android version of Network Diagnostics handles information when you view connection details, run diagnostic tests, save results and export reports.
Information accessed and processed
The app reads your active network transport, internet capability and validation status, metered status, interface name, local IP addresses, DNS servers, routes and MTU. These details refresh approximately every three seconds while the app is running. They are used to display your connection status and support troubleshooting.
The app processes hostnames or IP addresses and TCP ports you enter, DNS responses, test timestamps, connection timings, success and failure information, and diagnostic error messages. IPv4 subnet calculations and hostname syntax checks run locally. A syntax check alone does not send a DNS query or establish whether a host exists or is reachable.
The app requests internet access and access to network state. It does not request location permission or read Wi-Fi SSIDs, BSSIDs or cellular identity through its diagnostic implementation.
Network requests and recipients
When you run a DNS lookup, the app uses Android's system resolver. A TCP latency test also resolves the entered host when necessary, then makes five TCP connection attempts to the selected port. These tests measure connection establishment and do not send an application-level message to the destination service.
DNS queries may be processed by your configured DNS provider and the DNS infrastructure needed to resolve the hostname. The destination service and network providers involved in a TCP test can observe connection information, including the source IP address visible to them, the destination port and connection timing. Their handling and retention of that information are governed by their own practices. The app does not control those practices.
The inspected application does not send diagnostic results to a developer-operated server. It has no account registration, advertising, analytics or crash-reporting integration in the inspected source and declared dependencies. No third-party SDK for those purposes was identified. The app uses Android networking services and Kotlin, AndroidX and Compose libraries to provide its functionality.
Local storage and purposes
Test history saving is enabled by default. When enabled, the app keeps the latest 100 DNS and TCP test results in private app storage on your device. Saved records include the test type, hostname or host and port, timestamp, and result summary, which may contain resolved IP addresses, timings and errors. Older records are replaced as new tests exceed the 100-result limit.
The app also stores favorite hosts you choose to save and your history-saving preference. These support repeat checks and your chosen storage settings. No favorite hosts are added automatically.
Current inputs and screen state may also be retained temporarily through Android's screen-state restoration mechanism. Connection details are held for display and included in a report when you choose to export one; they are not automatically added to test history as connection snapshots.
Reports and sharing you initiate
Exporting a text report opens Android's share chooser. The report contains the current connection snapshot and all saved test results, including failures. It can therefore include local network addresses, DNS servers, routes, hostnames, ports and test timestamps.
You choose the app or destination that receives the report. Review these details before sharing. Once you send or save a report through another app, that app or recipient handles the copy under its own practices. Clearing history in Network Diagnostics does not delete exported copies.
Android backup
The Android application enables system backup. Depending on your device, Android version and backup settings, stored app data may be included in operating-system backup or restoration. Backup handling and retention depend on your device and backup provider.
Security
Saved history, favorites and preferences use Android's private app storage. The inspected implementation does not add its own encryption to these stored values.
DNS tests use the system resolver, so any protection for DNS traffic depends on your device and network configuration. TCP latency tests use ordinary TCP sockets without establishing a TLS session, even when the chosen port is commonly used for encrypted services. The app therefore does not guarantee encryption of diagnostic network traffic. No storage or transmission method can guarantee complete security.
Retention and deletion
Saved history remains on your device until you clear it, it is replaced by newer results beyond the 100-record limit, or app data is removed. You can turn off Save test history in Settings to stop recording future results. Turning it off does not clear existing history.
Use Clear test history in Settings to remove saved diagnostic results. Favorites are kept when history is cleared; remove them individually in Favorite hosts. You can also use Android's app-storage controls to clear the app's local data. Uninstalling generally removes local app data, although system backups and exported copies may remain under the relevant provider's or recipient's controls.
For privacy questions or deletion requests, contact mateuszbednarski696@gmail.com. The inspected app has no developer-hosted diagnostic database or account records to delete remotely, and the developer cannot directly clear data stored only on your device. Retention periods for correspondence sent to this address are not established by the inspected application or supplied information.
Children's privacy
Network Diagnostics is a general network diagnostic tool. The supplied information does not establish a specific intended age group. The inspected app does not include child-specific accounts, advertising or analytics. Diagnostic tests still disclose network connection information to DNS infrastructure and destination services as described above, regardless of the user's age.
Browser preview
The browser preview does not perform live Android network diagnostics or raw TCP tests. Its diagnostic storage is held in memory for the preview session, and its report-sharing action does not send a report.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the app or its data practices. Review the policy accompanying the version you use for the current description of those practices.
